Name: Hubert von Vestra Door: Left Canon: Fire Emblem: Three Houses Canon Point: Post Crimson Flower Age: 25 Appearance: Picture History: https://fireemblem.fandom.com/wiki/Hubert Personality: Positive Trait: -Loyalty Hubert von Vestra is many things, mostly negative things, but his most positive trait would be his unending loyalty. When he was a young boy, his father Marquis Vestra, made him a vassal of Edelgard. Even at such a young age he became attached to her, feeling as though he needed to keep her safe at all costs, and his loyalty to her was much more than just a servant and his lord, he felt like she was apart of him, and if anything happened to her it would be like losing a limb. When he was ten years old, Edelgard was taken by her uncle, kidnapped right from under his nose. He was so devastated that he ran into the woods to try and find her to bring her back home. Several of his father's men came for him, and he fought them off for three days with his intense magic before he was ultimately returned. He still never forgave himself for allowing her to be taken. In their later years Hubert is still forever loyal to Edelgard, seeing her dreams become a reality is the only goal that he has in mind. They both wished to see a world where nobles and commoners no longer had to be apart, and crests would be abolished. In order to get to that goal, he was willing to do anything, even kill those that would get in the way of Edelgard. Many times he has killed people for her sake, and he would give his life for her should she ever ask for it. It was mentioned by Dorothea in one of their supports that she assumed Hubert had feelings for Edelgard, only for him to explain that it was more of a fond connection through honor and loyalty. Negative Trait: -Sadistic If someone told Hubert to his face that he was a sadistic dastard, he would laugh and agree with them immediately. He knows what he is, and that is someone who is rotten to the core and kills without mercy and regret. He enjoys it, in fact, and he takes pride in what sort of punishments or misdeeds he can get into. When talking with Edelgard of plans, he often would devolve into a smirk as he explained what sort of nobles they were to kill next. In a support conversation with Ferdinand in one of the spin off games Three Hopes, Hubert discusses what nobles are truly like, and how resilient they are. He devolved into describing how one could pluck off their arms and legs and they would still come wiggling to the surface like the worms they are, those words easily rolling off his tongue as such torturous methods would make anyone else sick to think about. Because he is known to be so sick and twisted, others are often afraid of him, not wanting to approach him in any way. Hubert gains a joy when it comes to fulfilling goals for Edelgard, and the Empire, and he simply thinks of tormenting those along the way as fun and thrilling, making him often times a scary individual to talk with. When Bernadetta would see Hubert, she would faint from how scared she was of him in their supports. Though, he doesn't feel good tormenting people he trusts, and thus when she fainted he carried her back to her room and apologized for frightening her. Negative Trait: -Mistrusting Even when presented with an individual that he knows he should trust, getting Hubert to trust someone is almost an impossible feat until he himself has seen them and deemed them worthy of it. Due to his position as the one meant to protect Edelgard, it was always his duty to never trust anyone so that Edelgard wouldn't ever be harmed. In many chapters he has spies, and in many of his supports he often tells Byleth that they are not to be trusted, only to then eat those words later on down the line. There were even moments in Three Hopes where Hubert had confronted Shez for many of their support conversations, telling them of their mistrust, and Shez had to go through exhausting lengths to convince him that they were not going to betray Edelgard and himself. Hubert did remark that if someone like Shez were to betray Edelgard then he would have no qualms with killing them. His mistrust of so many people is the result of years of watching the nobles interact, and knowing that majority of the time they are able to walk away with ever facing any sort of consequences. How could he afford to trust any of the nobles when it seemed like they all wanted to betray each other in some shape or way? Negative Trait: -Murderer Hubert is a killer and he quite likes that about himself. Due to the conflict that is currently going on in Fodlan, what with monsters, bandits, and now territories fighting each other, there is no surprise that murder is a common thing where he is from. Still, even in the land of Fodlan he is considered terrible and scary due to how much he seems to enjoy taking the lives of those he considers enemies. His attacks can include him laughing manically as he kills people with his magic, to the surprise of no one. Many of his supports include his fellow students talking about how scary he is, and he takes it all in stride, finding delight in frightening people and using that intimidation to his advantage. He is such a stone cold killer in fact, that when it came down to trying his father for refusing to join Edelgard's rule, Hubert declared he be killed and he had no issues about it. It isn't as though he is a mindless killer however, he just enjoys it, but would only bring his power down upon those that deserved it.
